Our Conditioners vs. Traditional Conditioners
While we use the term “clean” to describe all of our products we wanted break down our conditioners and what separates ours from other “traditional” conditioners in the market:
- No Harmful Chemicals: Made with natural ingredients and free from harmful chemicals like sulfates, parabens, and silicones, which can be harmful to your hair and scalp. Traditional conditioners may contain these chemicals, which can strip your hair of its natural oils and cause damage over time.
- Environmentally Friendly: We use sustainable and biodegradable ingredients. Traditional conditioners may contain synthetic ingredients that are harmful to the environment and may not break down easily.
- Better For Your Hair: All of our conditioners are designed to nourish, strengthen, and replenish your hair. Traditional conditioners may contain heavy silicones that can weigh down your hair and cause buildup over time.
- Safe For Color-treated Hair: Our conditioners don't contain harsh chemicals that can strip the color from your hair. Traditional conditioners may contain sulfates that can fade your color over time.
Our clean ingredients found in our conditioners
- Baobab Oil: A “scalp fertilizer” with fatty acids and vitamin C to nourish, and the unique ability to penetrate the cortex of dry hair to strengthen.
- Pea + Baobab Proteins: Our hair is made from keratin protein which becomes brittle and damaged over time. These gentle hydrolyzed plant-derived proteins are packed with amino acids that help restore strength, moisture, shine, and flexibility.
- Blue Tansy Oil: A naturally deep blue oil that contains chamazulene, a compound with proven anti-inflammatory and healing properties, ideal for nourishing the scalp and strengthening its skin barrier and is often found in luxury skincare products.
- Shea Butter: Our responsibly sourced, West African Shea Butter is uniquely processed to deliver all of the moisture benefits without a waxy, heavy feeling.
- Murumuru Butter: This silky butter has a unique fatty acid content that allows it to penetrate the hair shaft for better moisture retention and elasticity without a greasy residue.
Harmful ingredients found in traditional conditioners
- Synthetic Fragrance: This catch-all term can apply to a broad array of chemicals that add scent to the product and is often used to disguise even more toxic chemicals. Some people may be sensitive to these fragrances and may experience irritation or allergic reactions.
- Formaldehyde-releasing Preservatives: These are used to prevent bacterial growth in the product. However, formaldehyde is a known carcinogen and can be harmful to human health.
- Sulfates: These are surfactants that are used to create lather and remove dirt and oil from the hair. However, sulfates can be harsh and strip the hair of its natural oils, leading to dryness and damage.
- Silicone: These are used to coat the hair shaft and make it feel smoother and softer. However, over time, silicones can build up on the hair and make it look dull and lifeless.
- Parabens: These are preservatives that are used to extend the shelf life of the product. However, there is some concern that parabens may be linked to certain health issues.
